Holistic Healing

Yoga is primarily about general well-being. The science encompasses a broad holistic approach, which inspires people to live consciously, become aware of how they behave and interact in the world. Through the awareness attained, numerous healing effects and health benefits start to unfold.
The body communicates any imbalance or discomforts whenever they arise. To access and or even simply notice the existence of emotional pain, the mental thought pattern and volition must become evident. This can be experienced through feelings of anxiety, tightness in the abdomen or difficulty with natural breathing. Many people feel stressed and experience neck and shoulder stiffness or may feel sad which may be experienced by a closing in the throat area.
Dis-ease is a manifestation of not being in harmony, not being aligned or straight and being caught in a state of imbalance. The body follows first and foremost what is happening in the mind, ie - Mind comes first. The Body is a tangible reflection of the mind. The body can heal very fast if the right corrective action is taken.
Yoga is often perceived to be solely a physical stretching practice. It is often approached in the same way as daily living: with a desire to do, act and achieve. This action continues to keep the mind busy and occupied.
Yoga is about the eradication of conflicts and silence. In silence true self-discovery and reflection can be achieved. Only in silence is the mind quiet and peace is experienced. When silence continues, it becomes stillness. When there is stillness, nothing is pulling us into the future or into the past. True presence can be experienced and healing can occur. If we listen to the things that are constantly pulling us away from the now, conflict arises and a state of separation from the whole. What we consider to be most vital we crave and tend to attach ourselves to, thereby keeping us mentally very busy and preoccupied with action and desire. All tensions come from fear. When we become afraid of losing anything that we perceive to be important , whether it be our life or even the material things we possess - we create duality and therefore conflict and then tension arises. Tensions make pathways in the physical body and can result in disease and imbalances.
Regular practice of Yoga awakens us on all levels and brings awareness into our lives. From physical alignment comes mental alignment which balances and heals both the physical body and brings balance and health to the mind.
